Many of you are familiar with our SCRIP program. If not, Scrip is pre-paid gift cards that you buy from St Leo's to use at national retailers and restaurants. The Great Lakes Scrip center acts on behalf of St Leo's and other non-profit groups to purchase large amounts of scrip from grocery stores, department stores, and other retailers at a substantial discount. St Leo's buys the scrip from Great Lakes Scrip Center at a discount, and re-sells the certificates to our parishioners at face value. St Leo's gets to keep the discount, which can be from 2 to 21%! These cards can be used as gifts, but most people just use them to shop with when they go to stores, instead of paying with cash or charging things. The money that St Leo's makes is like a donation from the retailer or restaurant in exchange for our repeat business. There are Scrip cards available for MANY the places YOU already use.
