        Every Sunday evening at 6PM the doors to St Leo’s open wide for an energetic Mass designed for teens, where their peers participate in the Mass as Lectors, Altar Servers, and Eucharistic Ministers.  The homilies from Fr Joe Catanise, the pastor, are presented in terms they can understand, and take the stories from the readings, and present them in a modern way, so they can actually see the relevance of the bible even today.  The Mass is totally centered around the Eucharist, and true to our Catholic faith and teachings.  After Mass from September to May the teens follow most Masses with  youth group... Life Nights for High School teens, & Edge for Jr. HS teens.

        But for many that choose the Life Teen Mass, it is the music that draws them there.  The music is led by their own worship band “Hearts Ablaze” and features contemporary Christian music, with a rock band feel, and loads of energy.  The music is upbeat and lively, even on the most contemplative and worshipful songs.  The words to the music are projected on the wall in the front of the church so there's no flipping through a song book, and that keeps your hands free to clap along, and hold your hands up in worship.  The band puts their all into leading the singing each week, and really encourages the congregation participate in the music.

        The funny thing is as time went on more and more adults, including a good number of our seniors, have found the Life Teen Mass and come regularly because they too enjoy the energy and joy the Mass bring them.  I myself love the Mass, because as a parent, it is great to see teens really enjoying being at Mass, and singing along with the band.  The Mass is continuing to grow, the music is always getting better, and Life Teen is here to stay.   For more on the Life Nights and Edge Programs, click here, or go to the [Programs] link at the top of any page.
