Rosary Society

The Rosary Society of St. Leo the Great Church.

The Rosary society has been active for many years.  I have been a member of St. Leo’s for over 40 years and it has always been there.  We have about 30 members at this time with about 5 men in our group. It is very good to have the men dedicated to Our Mother Mary and have them saying the Rosary along with us.

We have a Mass on the first Saturday of each month dedicated to Mary.  We also lead the Rosary before the Saturday afternoon Mass each week.  We presently have 11 people that take turns saying the Rosary and we are most grateful for this.  We also lead the Rosary at Hilton East each Tuesday and have a Mass or Communion service after the Rosary.  Several of our members are Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion that lead the Communion Service.  We are very blessed to have these people in our group.

Our meetings are the second Wednesday of each month at 12:30pm normally in room 5 from March thru December.  We do not normally meet during January and February. Our meetings start with the Rosary, a short business meeting and some sort of presentation.  In the past few years we have included some trips into our schedule with visits to the Fatima Shrine in Lewiston, The Abby of the Genesee, Sacred  Heart Cathedral, St. Michael and St. Stan’s Churches in Rochester.  We are attempting to learn more about or Religion outside of our area.  We also have a summer picnic and a Christmas Party.

This year we are focused on Our Lady of Fatima as it is the 100th anniversary of her appearance.  We started in October with a statue of Mary at Fatima being passed from family to family each week asking that we pray the Rosary each day with the Statue and if possible invite friends or relatives to join us.  We have been very pleased with the cooperation we have received with the statue.  We are also planning other events during the year 2017 until October 13, 2017 her last visit to Fatima.  We hope to have a presentation for our children to introduce them to Mary.  Some films and talks for the adults, a May celebration in Mary’s month, The Rosary and Masses at our Shrine etc.

If you wish to join us we would be very glad to have you.  Our dues are $10.00 per year which pays for the monthly Masses.  If you have any questions or would like to join us or be part of our year of Fatima Celebration please contact us.
